„I hope you never lose your sense of wonder.
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger.
May you never take one single breath for granted.
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed.
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean.
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens.
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance.
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance.“
Well, I am not usually listening to Lee Ann Womack and to be honest I didn’t know her song until I discovered Anthem Lights‘ cover of it. But that one really got to me.
I don’t know how often I heard that cover since Spotify suggested it. Somehow those lyrics touched my heart: „I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean…and when you get the chance to sit it out or dance I hope you dance“…Dance until your feet hurt and your back aches. And sing.Sing until your voice gives up and your throat feels like you swallowed sandpaper.
Dance and sing and be happy and free.
It doesn’t matter if you are of key or out of tune. In this world where everybody tries to fit in and never loses composure. Where they tell us that it is so immensely important to always appear calm, collected and mature, be a little crazy.
Be wild, be bold and brave. Let them hear you, see how beautiful you are and make them listen. Listen to your thoughts and ideas. Because there are already enough people that fit in, that never step up for something important, who are living a cookie-cutter perfect life – at least on the outside.
And always remember what Tetris taught us: If you try to fit in you will disappear!
So stand out, make the rest of the world see you, hear and feel you.
Stay wild – stay gold
